Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, of Kaduna State, on Friday said that Kaduna State will be be the first state in Nigeria to produce steel from iron ore in Gujeni located in Kagarko Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, disclosed this when he received the Emir of Kagarko, HRH, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, together with members of his Emirates Council, at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, in Kaduna.
According to him, he was excited and pleased that a company, Afri Steel, Indian Nigeria company is already mobilised in Kagarko Local Government Area, prospecting for iron ore for conversion into steel.
“I am very happy to tell Nigerians that Kaduna State will be be the first state to produce steel from iron ore in Gujeni Kagarko Local Government Area of the state”.
Speaking on the resources, “It is six hundred million dollars investmenets, the money has already been secured, the state is committed and has started construction”, he stressed.
el-Rufai assured that, “by the Grace of God it will be completed in December 2020, Nigeria steel will come out from that plant in 2020”, he assured
On area of creating job opportunities, he said, “on completion, it will employ about 3,500 Nigerians, it is a landmark achievement, it is the largest single investment that has come into the state in the last five years”, he added.
“I am very happy to inform the Local Government Chairman and the Emirs that Kakargo is now the number one industrious destination in the state”.
Kagarko Local Government, “they strongly supported us in 2015 and 2019, so we are very happy”, the Governor said.
The Chairman, Kakargo Local Government Area, Rabo Nasara, said, they were in Government House to show appreciation to the State Governor, Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, for his Sallah visit.
According to him, “last month, he decided that the last Sallah he was going to do it in Kagarko, and he came with all his entourage, we were so blessed that we had him at that time.
“And we felt it is very necessary we come, show appreciation for his gestures.
“We also request that some of the projects he has started in Kagarko, we are praying for him and we wish that they should be completed within the time speculated in the agreement.”
