The Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) on Tuesday lamented that Nigerian security agents are very poor in terms of intelligence gathering”.
YYSA in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan  by its president, Olalekan Hammed declared that this was as a result of the recent killing of the captive Professor, Gideon Okedayo a lecturer in the department of mathematics at Ondo State University of Science and Technology.
The association in the statement emphasized that  security agents in the country  need to be up  and doing to forestall such occurrences “because they have been unable to arrest and apprehend Olakunrin’s murderers till date.”
According to the association,  it would be tantamount to waste of time “when we tell them to fish out perpetrators who kidnapped Prof. Gideon, saying, “in fact, the ineptness of Nigerian intelligence agencies prompted the statement  made by the Department of State Security that some people are planning to set Nigeria on fire. “
“The statement could be political or a way to cover up their incompetence. Surely, we need apolitical and redefined security operatives to ensure safety of lives and property in the country. Enough of excuses from Nigerian government and security agents,” .
