Zamfara State Governor, Dr Bello Mohammed has received an award of excellence from the International Institute of Professional Security (IIP) for improving the Security of lives and properties of citizens in Zamfara State.
Presenting the award, the former Minister of State for foreign affairs, Ambassador Bagudu Harse said the institute has justified the nomination and the award given to the Governor because it is a well known fact nationally and internationally that governor Mohammed has has restored Peace in the State.
Also the Director General of the Institute, Barr Tony M. Ofoyetan said the award of excellence to governor Mohammed is to encourage him and his Government in the daily efforts of maintaining peace in Zamfara State and Nigeria at large.
In his acceptance speech, governor Mohammed thanked the Institute and its governing council for recognizing his administration’s efforts in addressing the security challenges that faced the State.
He assured of his commitment to remain resolute in finding enduring peace and security in Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole and therefore assures that the next stage of the peace process is that of disarmament which would start very soon. .
Governor Mohammed represented by Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe said that alot of lessons have been learnt that Security challenges could be tackled through community engagement, honest and sincere dialogue, and taking practical steps to sustain peace efforts. He dedicated the award to all the people that suffered from the banditry activities and the heroes that lost their lives.
The governor’s entourage to the occasion included the Principal Private Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Jaafar Maradun, Director General Protocol Matters, Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf and the Director General Press Affairs, Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau among others.
