The committee set up by the Zamfara State Government to work out modalities for the establishment of RUGA settlements in the state has visited one of the proposed sites in Rikwa village in Dansadau Emirate of Maru Local Government Area.
The committee made of surveyors, engineers, agriculturalists and other experts drawn from state Ministries visited the 20,000 hectares of land proposed for the RUGA to work out modalities for the successful establishment of the settlement.
The RUGA, if completed will have a dam, 500 units of 1and 2 bedroom flats, schools for both western and Islamic education, Hospital, veterinary clinic, Jumaat Mosque, cattle market and milk processing factory.
Leading the committee to the site, the Special Adviser on Security, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed Dauran said they were at the area to intimate the people on the government initiative to make the area more lively for the Fulani community.
Dauran urged the Fulani repentant bandits to accept the government intention and initiatives in good faith as the governor Bello Mohammed led administration leave no stone unturned to ensure the lost glory of Zamfara peace returns.
Responding, the Fulani community leader of Rikwa, Alhaji Amadu Rikwa, assure government of their fullest cooperation with all what she intended in its programme in the area.
A statement by the Press Secretary to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Idris Salisu said the state government plans to also establish Ruga settlement in other two Emirate Councils of Maradun and Gidan Jaja in Zurmi local government areas after which same gestures will be extended to rest of the local government of the state.
