The Plateau State Government has reiterated its commitment to revamp the educational sector towards living a lasting legacy to the youths of the state.
Governor Simon Bako Lalong stated this while hosting Favour Movel Wokrit who was the overall best student at senior secondary school examinations (SSCE) 2019 in Nigeria at old Government House, Rayfield, Jos.
He used the occasion to advice parents to nurture their children towards excellence in their educational pursuits as government was ever ready to support any student or parents to bring laurels to the state.He warned those proprietors setting up mushroom schools in the state saying government would soon clamp on them.
He congratulated the proprietor of Christian Royal College, Sabon-Barki in Jos-South LGA for making the state proud to producing the best SSCE graduate.
The governor said that though Favour Movel Wokrit has already secured a Federal Government scholarship to read Engineering in China, the state is ever ready to grant him scholarship to read medicine which he preferred to any university of his choice within and outside the shores of Nigeria.
Governor Lalong promised to reward him, his parents and the school he graduated, just as he also did Jerry Mallo who produced tractor and is about to launch a posh car he produced.
Responding, Favour Movel Wokrit, who scored As in all the subjects he sat for thanked the governor for hosting him and made a case for the under privilege/children who have potentials of becoming great, but, their parents had no resources of taking them to school.
He promised to do his best for Nigeria and Plateau State when the times come.
Speaking also, his father Appolos Movel while thanking the governor for hosting and celebrating their son, said his son has made them proud, although he wanted to be a Reverend Father, stressing that, God has a plan for everybody at the appointed time.
He used the occasion to thank the college for nurturing his son who has excelled in his SSCE.
The proprietor of the college, Garba Pwul (SAN) represented by the deputy proprietor, Barrister Mermun Pwul said, it is only when government is in place that parents tend to support their wards to achieve their academic pursuits.He called on the state to help the student towards pursuing his career in the university.
Our correspondent reports that Favour Movel Wokrit was later handed over to the governor by his parents and the proprietor of the college.
