The leader of Kunnawa Dam Herdsmen in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, Ardo Alhaji Geza has expressed optimism that Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s Ruga programme would be the lasting solutions to herders movement from one place to another in search of pastural lands for their cattle, which will also end clashes with farmers.
He stated this in an interview with our correspondent when New Nigerian visited their grazing land, adding that what Ganduje is trying to do for herdsmen is a welcome idea that brings lasting solutions to farmers/Fulani clashes and restore peace and mutual understanding between the two important sides across Kano State.
Ardo Alhaji Geza added that herdsmen are law abiding citizens that care for their cattle which remains their occupation.
He assured that ” if the issue of Ruga is successful, there would be no clashes between the farmers and herdsmen, especially nowadays when the federal and states governments are working together for a lasting solution to incessant clashes every where.
Commenting on Kunnawa Dam Grazing Reserve, Geza said that since the repairs of the dam, there was no clash or misunderstanding between his people and the farmers around the area ,which is another landmark achievement.
He thanked the Kano State Director of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources for his efforts towards the repairs of the dam and for the installation of solar water pumps at the place for their use.
