The meeting was held at the Unit Commander’s office where he intimated them on the August 1 effective date for the enforcement of law on motorcycle driver’s license.
Speaking at the meeting, the Unit Commander, Muktar Zubairu said the programme was meant to enlighten the stakeholders on the need to obtain driver’s license and number plates.
He said: “I was directed from our headquarters to inform you that as from Aug. 1, 2019, no Keke NAPEP or motorcycle will be allowed to fly the road without number plate as well the drivers license.
“Therefore, as from August 1, any vehicle, keke rider or motorcyclist caught without number plates will be arrested, he must first of all pay fine and secondly he will not be released until he obtains a number plate and mounts before us.”
According to him, it is one of the reasons why he invited security operatives to further explain the easiest path to obtain the license.
He said the license was divided into two categories of five years period for KEKE NAPEP and motorcycle licenses which cost N5,500 while the three years period costs N3,350 with some additional fees from the license office.
“Unlike the motor driver’s license, you don’t need to go to driving school before obtaining the license, all you need to do is to go and pay at the license office, they will send your form to us to process your license.”
