The All Progressives Congress (APC) Zamfara State chapter has inaugurated two committees to put the party on a better position to play viable opposition in the state.
Inaugurating the 14-member Publicity Committee at the APC state secretariat, Gusau on Tuesday, the chairman of the party, Alhaji Lawal Muhammad Liman tasked the committee to ensure that its build a formidable publicity for the party in the state.
Liman represented by the APC state secretary, Alhaji Sani Musa Mafara said the party having being in power in the state before now cannot become inactive hence the committee committee must be up and doing in ensuring that the party activities are given adequate publicity.
“We accept the what happened to the party in the state as a decision of Allah, so we must not become dormant just because we are not the ruling party in the state”, he said.
Liman added that setting up of the committees was to ensure that the party remain vibrant even in opposition in the state.
The Publicity Committee is chaired by the immediate past state commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Birnin Magaji while the 25 member Security Committee is chaired by retired Police Commissioner, Abdullahi Ibrahim Chafe.
Speaking to journalists after the inauguration, the chairman of the Security Committee, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim Chafe said his committee is to protect the party members against unjust intimidation and prosecution by liaising with security agencies in the state.
Chafe said the committee is also mandated to be enlightening members to ensure that members of the party are always at the right side of the law.
He said if any member of the party decides to be deviant and not ready to be law abiding, the committee will not help in such situation.
“We will not hesitate to allow such member face the full wrath of law because we are law abiding party”, he said.
