The Yobe State Agency for Community and Social Development Programme (CSDP) has on Monday embarked on media tour to ascertain the impact and sustainability of the projects executed by the community driven approach of the agency.
The projects are executed under the CSDP additional financing at the sum cost of 1.073 billion Naira.
The media tour was aimed at ascertaining the impact of the projects on the beneficiaries and how they can sustain it.
The main reason of the projects was to support and empowered the communities and local government authorities to increase access of less privileged people to improved social and natural resources infrastructural Services in the sustainable development goals in Nigeria, especially the internally displaced persons IDPs and vulnerable persons and communities in the North-East and other parts of the country.
Explaining the process used to execute the projects, the General Manager of the Agency Alhaji Goni Baba Gana said, the Agency use the community driven approach where 10 people form an association and provide 5℅ than government would provide 95℅ for them to implement the projects under the supervision of the Agency.
Goni Baba Gana said, the project is mainly for solve the problems of IDPs, vulnerable and people living with disabilities where they achieved 38 group development projects and 24 community development projects.
A beneficiary, Malam Yahaya Modu Ngamdu expressed appreciation for CSDP, pointing out that when they came to Kukareta as IDPs, they were living in a tent with his two wives and 11 children before they were advised by CSDP to form a group of 10 people through which they realized a house for themselves.
Other groups that achieved from the programme includes Muslims Sisters Organization MSO, Buhari Extension Community Development Association, Njiwaji Sabon Layi Community Development Association among others.
All beneficiaries have appreciated the approach used by the CSDP in realizing the projects, saying it has given them the opportunity to have quality projects and called for more projects in the respective communities.
