Kebbi State Government on Tuesay distributed 101 vehicles to members of National Union Of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), NARTO, Timber Sellers, Fish Sellers, Fish Farmers, Mobile Phone Sellers and Market Traders Associations aimed at empowering their delivery services in the state.
Speaking at the distribution ceremony held at Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi, Governor Abubakar Bagudu told the gathering that the scheme is an interest Free koan in which government injected about one billion Naira.
He warned the beneficiaries against reckless driving particularly on highways adding that any member caught in Manhandling the vehicle giving to him would be dealt with and hence, would not benefit from any soft loan of this nature.
He advised them to hastening in re-paying back the loan through the branch office of the Bank of Industries (BOI) which government cooperated as intermediary so that by next few months, another segment would be invited to benefit from the scheme.
NURTW National President, Mohammed Najeeb expressed happiness to Kebbi state government for empowering members of his union in the state.
He urged the benefiting unions to justify the loan given to them which encourages government to do more especially in its next-level agenda.
NURTW got seventy four vehicles, NARTO, fifty four and Timber Sellers Association got twenty trucks among others.
