5 Feared Killed By Jos Building Collapse

No fewer  then five  persons have been reportedly killed following collapse of a storey building at Dilimi area of Jos North Local Government Area.

“Three persons unfortunately lost their lives.” Police reported.

A press statement by the Plateau State Police Command through the spokesman of the command, DSP Terna Mathias Tyopev, however said several others were rescued alive, but with degree of injuries.

“As a result seven persons were rescued unhurt, three persons were rescued with various degrees of injuries and where rushed to the Plateau Specialist and Bingham University Teaching.

Five dead persons have been evacuated from the building,  with several others still trapped in the collapse building at press time.

But Police said rescue operations are still enforced “the rescue operation is still ongoing.” Police informed.

It was learnt that National Emmergenct  Management Agency (NEMA) rescue team also visited the scene, but are yet to make official statement on the casualty  figures caused by the incident.

Residents said the building is an old substandard building, and has been a threat to its occupants.
