In spite of the security threats affecting the area, Birnin Gwari LGA has achieved a lot of successes in infrastructural development within the last one year.
Chairman of the council, Honourable Gambo Garba Randagi expressed this while fielding questions from newsmen who were at the council’s secretariat on Thursday.
“We rehabilitated 116 boreholes 10 per each ward, 13 per the two wards in central. We constructed a 5km drainages and culvert in LGA.
“We built shopping mall with over 40 shops. We built laboratory and demonstration rooms and equipped them. We upgraded the motor park in the LGA. We bought and distributed transformers to our communities,” he said.
Speaking further, he said other capital projects embarked upon included building and renovation of schools.
” We renovated primary schools blocks and built new ones where necessary. We also constructed town hall at Randagi community, and many others you can name them,” he explained.
Further on education, he said that they have done the little they can by provision of working materials, salaries areas and other things to every school in the LG.
“With change of system in Kaduna SUBEB, the government is trying to screen and harmonise the teachers under SUBEB where they will be financed by the government directly.
“On the part of the students, we have been paying scholarships since our inception through student body, Birnin Gwari Students Association (BIGSA) whom are producing the statistical work on our Indigenous students,” he added.
