The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel has sworn-in members of the state executive council with a warning on them to avoid any act of misbehaviour otherwise their individual local government areas of origins would not blacklisted in future appointments.
Emmanuel therefore, advised the new appointees to accord honour and prestige to the “Honourable” attached to their names.
The Governor who said this in Uyo on Thursday at the swearing in of 19 Commissioners, two Special Advisers and four Permanent Secretaries also urged them to join hands in steering the ship of his completion agenda.
He described those who made the list of his appointees as tested and proven to be men and women of character, integrity, transparency, honesty and committed to “serve the Akwa Ibom enterprise”.
The Governor who declared that those appointed emerged strictly on merit, advised those appointed to adhere to the wordings of the oath of office they took and to place the interest of the state ahead of personal interests.
His words “Permanent Secretaries were selected strictly on merit. Its a call to duty. If you can adhere to the wordings of the oath of office you took, then you would never have problem. Dont forget that your personal interest must not come first. Be a mentor. Your first loyalty is to the state. Discharge your duties exceptionally”.
“For the commissioners and Special Advisers, I want to say that these have been tested and proven to be men and women of character, integrity, transparency, honesty and members of the “serve the Akwa Ibom enterprise.
“Let me also state here that if you are a commissioner or Special Adviser and you misbehave, we would take down your local government area from further appointment, so do not take a decision that would affect your Local Government Area. Be a truly honourable person” he said
He disclosed the intention to create a full fledged ministry to handle manpower planning in the state.
Among the Commissioners sworn into office were; Mr Akan okon, Arc. Ime Ekpo, Prof Nse Essien, Barr Uwemedimo Nwoko, Mr Monday Uko, Linus Nkan, Okpulupum Etteh, Ephraim Inyaneyen, Ekong Sampson, Charles Udoh, Orman Esin, Iniobong Essien, Dominic Ukpong and Gloria Edet.Others are Udo Ekpenyong.
Others sworn in included; Ukpong Akpabio, Uno Etim, Raphael Bassey and Victor Bassey. Sunny Ibuot and Ekemini Umoh were also sworn in as Special Advisers, while Barr Janet Daniel, Grace Aniefiok Udoinyang, Ekaete Iniobong Ekanem and Dr Patrick Anietie Essien were sworn in as Permanent Secretaries.
Reacting to the appointment, Mr. Charles Udoh, the immediate past commissioner for Information and Strategy, thanked governor Udom Emmanuel for the privilege extended, describing as unprecedented, the governor’s decision to reappoint all members of his last Exco.
On the threat to blacklist local government areas of any defaulting appointee, Udoh said the overwhelming love from the generality of Akwa Ibom people which saw to the massive re-election of Governor Udom Emmanuel has placed a burden of performance on the new Exco, leaving no room for excuses on the part of any appointee.
