Agriculture Provides Employment, Promotes Self-reliance – Kano Farmers

Farmers in Kano State has described agriculture as an occupation that provides  day to day  employmentsthat promotes self-reliance at both dry and rainy seasons.

They made the disclosure in an interviews with New Nigerian  when our correspondent visited some farm locations in Kano, as a result of heavy downpour that is being witnessed this week, where most of the farmers said that Nigeria is now moving forward in agricultural sector since the inception of the present administration.

Alhaji Musa Sani, chairman, Musani Farms Limited Kano,  a large scale farmer and the Kano State Chairman of Cassava Growers Association (NCGA), stated that agriculture contributes to over 70 per cent of employment opportunities while many industries often get their raw materials from farmers which is another development.

He added that many people get employment in agricultural sector and most of the farmers employ their labourers everyday which usually opens more doors of opportunities to many people in especially rural areas where farming activities are being practiced mostly.

Similarly, the  chairman of All farmers association of Nigeria (AFAN),  Kano State chapter, Alhaji Absulrashid Magaji Rimin Gado, said that the Federal Government of Nigeria under President Muhammadu  Buhari is trying its best to see that Nigeria reduces dependence on oil while our economy is now in progress as seen in every sector.

In conclusion, one of the employed girls that specializes in planting vegetables  at large scale farms, Amina Adamu said that she generates over two thousand Naira per day, which she uses  in the payment of her school fees as well as  savings.
