Ekiti Council Of Arts, Culture To Propose Dress Culture For State – DG

The Director General of Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture, Ambassador Wale Ojo Lanre has disclosed that the council ” is proposing a dress culture that will be used as cultural identity and distinguished people of the state from other tribes.
Ambassador Wale Ojo Lanre who dropped this hint during a meeting with the traditional rulers in the state said the dress culture will distinguish Ekiti people from other Nation as reflected in our languages and  cuisine( Iyan).
” Adire is to Abeokuta, Kente is to Ebira, Fila Abeti Aja is  to Oyo and Osun; which fabric/ style can be ascribed to Ekiti as our dress culture? hence the need to develop our fabric and dress culture.” he said.
The Director General informed the traditional rulers of the resolve of the Dr Kayode Fayemi led administration to include traditional rulers in the  committee  set  at local level to identify, develop and promote Arts and Culture in the state.
While thanking the traditional rulers for their efforts in promoting culture and tradition, Ojo Lanre said the council will make itself available and palaces on issues that can add value to actualization of government policies and programms.
Responding on behalf of the traditional rulers Elekole of Ikole, Oba Adewumi Ajibade Fasiku, said as  custodians of culture and tradition, they will continue to discharge their responsibilities in promoting government policies that will enhance arts and culture.
Oba Adewumi stressed that  the visit to the traditional rulers in the state is a clear demonstration of government commitment to promote culture and urge them not to relent in supporting traditional and cultural activities in the state.
