Yobe University Students Appeal For Social Amenities

Students of Yobe State University at off-campus communities have appealed to the state government and authorities concerned to come to their aid in providing them with the basic social amenities in the communities they are living.
They made the appeal while speaking to New Nigerian Newspapers Correspondent, Maidugu Ali in Damaturu the state capital.
Jibrin Muhammad, Safina Bello, Alhaji Adam and Abdulmuminu Zakariya were the students living off-compus who noted that they suffer a lot of constraints as a result of in availability of electricity, portable drinking water and health facilities as well as other social amenities in the community.
They explained that lack of electricity forces them to go to the university at night for reading and on coming back to their houses, security operatives are uncomfortable with their movements.
The students further said, “One has to go to the university which is about two kilometers distance from their rented houses to read and wash clothes.
New Nigerian Newspapers  also spoke to the ward head of the community, Bulama Umaru Buba on the issue.
Responding, Bulama Umaru said, the community has existed for more than fifteen years and has a population over three hundred households.
He said that the community also hosts over two hundred and seventy internally displaced persons, but it lacks primary school, health facilities, electricity and potable drinking water.
Also speaking, residents of the community, Malam Hassan Isa and Malam Zubairu Usman called on government and other relevant organizations to provide the social amenities to the area.
They further stressed the need for the provision of land for graveyard to the area.
