Imo Assembly Vows To Work With Executive To Develop State

Shortly after it’s inauguration, Imo State House of Assembly, resolved
to work “hand in hand” with the executive arm of the state government
to ensure that the state was brought back to progress.

The speaker, Rt. Hon. Chidi Collins, disclosed this at the weekend, during a
reception in his honour, at Anara, in Isiala Mbano Local Government
Area of the state.

According to him, “members of the 9th Assembly, have resolved to work
and assist the state governor, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha to succeed and move
the state forward”.

The speaker, assured that the leadership of the state legislature under his command, will ensure that both arms of government enjoys harmonious working relationship that would bring dividends of
democracy to the people of the state.

He further said that the masses would always suffer in any democracy
where there is rancor between the executive and the legislature
pointing out that such would not be the portion of the people of the state.

The speaker, however categorically stated that the friendly and cordial relationship between the two bodies, would not undermine the independence of the Assembly.

According to him, “with what is at stake in Imo state today, there is
no need for rancor between the two bodies”.

He added that, “we can’t afford to fail the people of the state, as
their expectations are very high”.
