President Muhammadu Buhari has challenged Nigerian Universities to carry out research that would attract industries to partner with the Universities for improve services.
Speaking at the Fourth Convocation Ceremony of Federal University Dutsinma in Katsina state, President Buhari said the present government was fully aware of the challenges confronting the education sector and other sectors.
“The Federal Government is making effort to turn around structures and facilities in its institutions as well as to train the required manpower,”he said.
President Muhammadu Buhari who spoke through Professor Hafiz Abubakar noted that, his administration had introduced a number of programmes including N-Power,Trader-moni Porgramme as well as Agricultural loans to engage the youths and encourage them to take up agriculture as a profession.
President Muhammadu Buhari said the Federal Government had also signed Not-to-Young-to-run bill into law to encourage the youths to participate actively in politics and acquire leadership skills at tender age.
Speaking at the Occasion, Chancellor of the University and Chairman Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja JP appreciated the National Universities Commission (NUC) for accrediting 20 academic programmes presented by the Institution.
King Dondeson who complained of Security problem facing the main campus of the university called on the President to fence the main campus to enable the Students stay at the campus.
Earlier, the acting Vice Chancellor of the Institution Professor Adamu Baba Kutugi said out of the 430 students graduated, 24 acquired first class, while 181 acquired second class upper, the others 178 graduated with second class lower along with 47 with third class.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari assisted by his Deputy Alhaji Mannir Yakubu and Secretary to the Government of the State, Dr Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa performed the presentation of Awards to deserving graduated 430 Students.
