Kaduna State Government has distributed 5,000 Value Seeds Maize to farmers free of charge to boost agricultural production in the state
Speaking while distributing the seeds to the farmers, the Zonal Manager, Alhaji Ahmed Abubakar said the gesture was aimed at supporting farmers with high quality seeds.
He said the seeds were given to the executive Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufa’i by the Value Seed company as part of their contributions following his reelection and inauguration for the second term in office.
He said, Maigana Zone has received 1,700 kg that will cover 85 hectares of farm land which at the end of the season, about 3,400 bags of maize is expected.
According to the Manager, each of the local government areas under Maigana Zone will cover nine hectares plus two demonstration farms at the Zonal headquarters.
He said they have two programmes the GIZ for Good Agronomic Practices and Maize Production and the second programme is OPC for Soil test adding that the farmers that received training under the programme are the beneficiaries.
The seeds were given to farmers as inputs support from the government of Kaduna State in its efforts to boost agricultural production in the state.
He advised benefiting farmers to make use of the seeds in making food production in the state a success.
