Niger Commences Sale Of Fertilizer

Niger State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has commenced the public sales of fertilizer and seeds in each of the 25 council areas of the state for the 2019 farming season.
The Ministry is to make available 25,000 bags of the commodities to middle men for resell to small scale farmers in rural communities.
The state governor, Abubakar Sani Bello said at the launch of the public sell of the farm inputs that the sale was to assist small scale farmers to get the fertilizer and seeds at rebate prices and with ease.
Each bag of the fertilizer is to be sold at a regulated government approved price of N5,500 to end users just as the government warn against racketeering and profiteering by middle men.
The launch which commenced simultaneously at the headquarters of all Local Governments Areas across the state was a deliberate intervention by the state government to avoid sharp practices.
Represented by his deputy, Ahmed Muhammad Ketso at the launch of the sell of the fertilizer and seeds, the governor said small scale farmers in the state would be given special consideration in the open air sale of the the farm inputs.
He stress that the emphasis on this year’s public sell of the commodity was to help low income earners and less privileged farmers to get the commodity at low prices.
Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Ibrahim Garba explained that the sell of the 25,000 bags of the commodity to middle men at the government price of N5,500 per bag was to ensure that no one hordes the commodity or takes it outside the state.
