RoLAC; CSOs/Media Commended For Commitment In Developing Advocacy Work Plan

The fight against corruption has been described as a collective responsibility, and the importance of the Civil Society Organisations and the media in the anti corruption strategy cannot be over emphasized.

Dr. Ada Ezeh, a consultant with Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC), made this assertion at a two day meeting for CSOs/Media to support the implementation of Adamawa State Anti-Corruption Strategies  (ADSACS) and Justice Reform Team (JRT) Action Plans in order to develop an advocacy strategy/work plan.

According to her, the CSO/media provide the check for improving accountability for both private and public sector.

 Ezeh said the objectives of the meeting  are geared towards; educating the Participants on the concept of Advocacy, help CSOs/Media to identify priority activities to advocate for and identify the target audience.

She maintained that the training will also  provide a platform for the participant to develop and implement  plan for advocacy.

She believed that at the end of the training, the CSOs/media will be more informed and enlighten about advocacy, develop and implement advocacy plan.

Earlier, Barrister Hafsat Abdullahi, the State Coordinator of RoLAC charged the CSOs and  media to uphold their ability to influence government  towards the implementation of policies and programme that has positive impact on the people.

She  urged them to continue with their commitment towards the program as good results await their efforts.

New Nigeria reports that the program is organised by Component 4 of RoLAC, funded by the European Union and implemented by the British Council.

It could be recalled that RoLAC  had  earlied engaged CSOs/Media on the implementation of Adamawa State Anti-Corruption Strategies ADSACs and Justice Reform Team JRT Action Plans in the state.

Activities were prioritized based on Short, medium and long terms to enable speedy implementation
