Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has said that his administration will soon declare state of emergency in Health sector.
He dropped the hint Tuesday while receiving members of Global Affairs Canada led by Mr. Daniel Arsenault on a courtesy call to the Government House, Bauchi.
Senator Bala Mohammed explained that the move was part of his government’s efforts to find lasting solutions to the challenges facing the sector to ensure human capital development.
He noted that there is a shortage of manpower in the health sector, hence Health Personnel Institute would be established for effective service delivery.
According to him, other sectors to be declared state of emergency include agriculture and education to address the challenges identified by Global Affairs Canada.
He also assured that his administration would value working with development partners for better performance, and pledged to ensure timely release of counterpart funding for speedy implementation of their programmes.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Daniel Arsenault disclosed that a whooping sum of N15 billion would be release to the state for human capital development.
Arsenault explained that the organization focused attention on women and children empowerment in addition to their protection, and acknowledged the successes recorded by the organization in the state.
Mr. Daniel Arsenault appealed to the Bauchi state government to give special attention to human capital development and improve Agriculture to enable women key into the sector for self-reliance.
