Owners, occupiers of illegal shanties, kiosks and containarised shops along Okokomaiko to Badagry and Iba-LASU road are to be evicted soon, as they have been given a marching order by the state government.
According to Lagos State Task Force, the notice of ‘Removal Order’ became necessary, in preparation for the commencement of rehabilitation works by the state government along the corridor.
Its Chairman, Olayinka Egbeyemi, said the Governor was touched by the discomfort being experienced on a daily basis, as a result of the bad state of roads along the axis, vowing to ameliorate the sufferings of residents and commuters plying the Okokomaiko to Badagry expressway, by rehabilitating the road.
Egbeyemi, a Chief Superintendent of Police who informed that a general clean up exercise of all the illegal shanties, kiosks and containerized shops would commence soon, however advised residents and Illegal traders to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse on railway tracks, road-setbacks, median and walk-ways around Okokomaiko to Badagry.
He warned that anyone caught would be seriously dealt with, in accordance with the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Laws.
