Imo State Government, has set up an advisory committee, to find out
the financial standing of the state, and all financial transactions of
the government from 2011 to 2019, the period the immediate past
Governor Rochas Okorocha, governed the state.
The committee has Mr. Abraham Nwankwo, as the chairman and Nick
Oparandudu as secretary, while Nze Charles Onwunali, Kelechi Omeri
Nzewuihe, sir Chima Aliliele, Charles Nwogu Mrs. Udeze Ibezirim and
Mrs Ify Maureen Okafor are members of the committee.
According to an official statement, issued in Owerri, Thursday, and
signed by the secretary to the state government (SSG) Barr. Uche
Onyeagocha, the committee is charged with the responsibility of
ascertaining and documenting the locations of and balances of all bank
accounts operated by the state government.
The committee, the statement went on, is to also identify the
ministries, departments and agencies concerned as at May 29, 2019.
In addition, the committee, is to review all financial transactions
and where necessary carry out forensic audit, with a view to finding
out, sources of funds and the applications of same and to review the
disbursements and applications propriety of charges on the accounts,
interest payments on loans and deposits, authorization and the
operation of the state board of internal revenue.
As part of its terms of reference, the committee, is to conduct
governance/ financial review of key agencies of government with the
view to documenting all revenues generated or subventions/allocations
between 2011 and 2019.
The committee is to recommend measures that would strengthen internal
controls and enhance the performance of those key ministries and
agencies of government.
In the same vein, the state governor, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, has set
up a separate committee to review all appointments and recruitments
made by the Okorocha administration, towards its end in the month of
