The none approval of the Social Protection (SP) policy by the otgyoing Zamfara State Government has slowed down the process of establishing the Social Protection structure and development in the state.
This was disclosed by the Zamfara State Team Leader, Save the Children International (SCI), Alhaji Tanko Muhammad Langaya during the Child Development Grant Programme (CDGP) close out meeting with stakeholders in Gusau.
“The Social Protection policy operation manual were developed and reviewed by stakeholders but unfortunately it is yet to be signed by the governor”, he said.
Lamgaya said 173,349 women were reached with the action oriented group activities which includes food demonstration and health education sessions during the CDGP phase one which is being close out.
“91 per cent of community members satisfied with transparency of targeting and enrollment mechanism while 85 percent of pregnant and lactating women got improved health and nutrition practices”, he said.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Gayari called on the participants to fashion out modalities to sustain the achievements of the CDGP in the state.
“The CDGP is closing out the cash transfer and open another chapter in the phase of CDGP as it is to remain for another two and half years in the state”, he said.
