The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai recently delivered a lecture on Boko Haram terrorists to members of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), London on the significant strides made by the Nigerian Army in its efforts to completely destroy the terrorists from Nigerian territory.
He spoke on the topic “Degradation of Boko Haram in the North Eastern Nigeria. What is next for the Nigerian Army” enumerated the Nigerian Army’s approach in countering the Boko Haram terrorists, strategy and tactics being employed, current situation in the North Eastern Nigeria and the on-going clearance and stabilisation operations in the theatre.
He further said that the Nigerian Army in conjunction with the other security agencies has been attending to these challenges, adding that in order to avoid being over stretched, continuous threat analysis are being carried out so that considerable attention is given to areas where security is most likely to degenerate.
The COAS stressed that these efforts have been adequately appreciated by most nations of the WHO truly mean well for Nigeria and effort have been made by some of such nations to learn the tactics of the Nigerian Army in the fight against insurgency to enable them combat existing and potential threats in their various countries.
Earlier, on arrival the Director, Military Sciences, Royal United Services Institute, Professor Roberts described General Buratai as a man with wealth of experience in the fight against Boko Haram Terrorist.
