We Have Discovered N115bn Debt, Adamawa Transition Committee Cries Out



Hours to the inauguration of the newly elected  People Democratic party (PDP) government in Adamawa,  the state Transition Committee has uncover a debt profile of N115 Billion.

The was made know when the Adamawa State Transition Committee  submitted its final report to the Governor elect, Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

According to the  report, the debt profile incurred by out going Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow’s administration to the state in the last four years stand at N115 Billion.

Chairman of the committee,Aliyu Ismaila Numan explained that N97 Billion is owned by the state comprising of outstanding external and domestic loans, N55.5 Billion, outstanding contractor claims N22.3Billion.

He stated that arrears and pension, gratuity and death benefits N16. 4 Billion, salary arrears and other staff claims N2. 7 Billion, while local Government councils owned N18 Billion,comprising of outstanding contract claims of N8. 9 Billion,salary arrears and staff claims of N5. 6 Billion, gratuity of N1. 2 Billion and over draft of N3. 0 Billion.

The committee recommended the streamlining of some government ministries, permanent secretaries and political appointees so as to save unnecessary cost for government.

Receiving the report, Fintiri, the Governor-elect, thank the committee for a job well-done, saying most recommendations will be implemented for desirous change in government.

Fintiri said he and his team are solidly ready to face the challenge head long with a view of addressing all the injustice in the state.
