Jos Residents Advised To Avoid Certain Areas After Violence Claims 5

Members of the public are advised to avoid Rikkos, Dutse Uku, Cele Bridge and Tina Junction all in Jos North LGA, Plateau State due to security breach in that location after sporadic gunshots were reported from the areas mentioned.
Security agencies have been drafted but caution should be exercised.

Police had confirmed fresh disturbances in Dutse Uku, Rikkos and Cele Bridge communities on Sunday.

“We have mobilised our personnel to the area. As we speak, the Area Commander Jos Metro is on ground there,” State Police Public Relations Officer  DSP Tyopev Terma  said in a text message.

The State Peace Agency headed by Mr. Joseph Lemgmang in a Facebook post confirmed the deployment of troops to the troubled areas.

It however called for vigilance and relevant security information.

Violence reportedly broke out in the cold tin city, Sunday afternoon following the murder of an unidentified civilian.

No fever then five people were reportedly killed and several houses set ablaze in the renewed violence in Jos North Local Government Area.
The violence was said to have eerupted around 11 am on Sunday, as several corpses was discovered around the area.
Affected areas include Rikkos, Dutse Uku, and Bauchi Ring Road, all in Jos, the state capital.
It was gathered that a corpse was discovered earlier in the area which caused the ongoing violence.
However, residents in the area have complained about the biases and unprofessional attitude of some security agents.
 It was alleged that security agents drafted were shooting at youths who were protecting their homes but they were also being accused of masterminding the killing and burning
 Eye  witness said, “they have clearly taken side because they are protecting the other side to attack us”.
The violence disrupted some Church services as many ended abruptly.
