The Rector, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, Captain Abdulsalam Mohammed has said the college has become a Regional Center of excellent by the International Civil Aviation Organization (OCAO).
Captain Mohammed made this known while addressing journalists in his office during College Open Day.
He said, the college will now reach out to develop youth to choose aviation industry as their carrier.
According to the Rector, NCAT is to train youth on current skills manpower considering that the industry is losing experienced staff due to retirement.
On the open day, Captain Abdulsalam Mohammed said, it was tagged Next Generation Aviation is to reach out and sensitized students from secondary schools and higher levels to have knowledge on what aviation college is all about as well as to instill interest in the college’s programmes.
NCAT has since reached out to the neighbouring countries in the area of training manpower development.
While appealing to state governments and organizations to assist students who have the zeal of becoming carrier aviation experts by sponsoring such students, he said in the last two years of his administration,NCAT has installed additional training garments with modern facilities.
The college will enjoy simulator for fire service which is the first of it’s kind not in Nigeria but the whole of Africa.
Also, advance guard system for safeguarding the territorial flying areas has been installed.
NCAT has since commenced e-learning by abolishing the use of handouts by students as every student has his Laptop in the case of those that don’t have the college provide them on loan to the students.
