Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai, of Kaduna State on Saturday May 24, 2019, swore-in Justice Mohammed Lawal Bello as the new Chief Judge of Kaduna State.
The Governor swore-in Justice Bello, early Saturday, at a ceremony held in Government House, Kaduna.
Justice Mohammed Lawal Bello, has served as the acting Chief Judge of the state since September 1, 2018.
el-Rufai, appreciated Justice Bello for providing quality leadership to the State Judiciary in acting capacity.
He said, “Kaduna Judiciary has been rated number one in settling commercial disputes in a 2018 World Bank ranking.
The Governor has called on the judiciary to help in ending the spate of insecurity in the state.
According to him, “Kaduna has experienced 40 violent ethno-religious conflicts yet not a single person has been convicted by the courts.”
He explained that, the state government spent N15BN on security in the last four years but said the Judiciary could play a role in ending this by speedy conclusion of trials and conviction of perpetrators.
