A serial car theft specialist, who currently works as a General Manager in a company in Lagos is now in Police net over alleged car theft.
Identified simply as Adeshegun, the suspect is alleged to have stolen at least 10 vehicles from notable companies where he had worked in senior management positions in Lagos.
The suspect, who is under going interrogation at the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) Unit of the Lagos State Police Command was alleged to have sold the vehicles to unsuspecting buyers in neigbouring states.
Our correspondent gathered that the suspect always apply to the companies as a genuine worker in a management position, but with the sole aim of stealing their cars once employed.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police Muazu Zubairu while confirming the arrest in a press statement said the suspect was apprehended following a complain received against him on 2018.
Following discreet Investigation and Intelligence gathering, Zubairu said the suspect was traced to a particular company in Lagos where he was newly employed as a General Manager.
According to the commissioner, the suspect has confessed to get crime during interrogation that he stole the cars from the previous he had worked.
“Sometimes in the month of December, 2018 we received a complaint about one Adeshegun ‘m’ who always apply for a management position in recognized companies with a sole intention of stealing their cars.
Information gathered revealed that he has in the same manner stole over (10) vehicles from companies and sold them to unsuspected buyers in the neigbouring states.
After a thorough investigation by SARS operatives, the suspect was traced to a particular company where he was newly employed as a General Manager. During interrogation, he confessed to have stolen several card from the previous companies he worked’, the Police Commissioner stated.
