The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has flagged off the distribution of 20 trucks of relief materials to about 30,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by banditry activities in Zamfara State.
Flagging off the distribution of relief materials in Gusau, NEMA Director General, Mustapha Maihaja said the distribution was after careful assessment of the situation was carried out by the agency.
Maihaja represented by the Head, NEMA Sokoto Operation Office in charge of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states, Dr Kofoworola Soleye said the items are meant for distribution directly to who are affected by the ugly menace of banditry in the state.
“We are providing reliefs to reduce the burden of those affected to make live more comfortable and meaningful for them”, he said.
The NEMA DG called on the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the relief materials.
“We hope you will make good use of the material given to you so the purpose for which the items were given to you will not be defeated”, he said.
The items donated by NEMA includes bags of rice, millet, sugar, salt, gallons of vegetable oil, cartons of tin tomatoes, mattresses , children wears , women wears and many other essential commodities.
