Chairman Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), Kaduna State chapter and Northern Area Committee, Mr. Akinade Rahuf has emphasized that training and professionalism of members is a task to be taken seriously by his led executives especially now that they have gotten reelection.
Akinade who made this assertion at the council’s Annual General Meeting and Election of the Northern Area Committee of NCRIB, held at the Charted Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) study centre, Turaki Ali House, Kaduna, Thursday, said it became important to harp on the training and professionalism of members as they are the engine room of the industry (Insurance), especially at the pace the world is developing.
According to him, “our profession is a very dynamic one and as such one needs to update everyday. We need to be abreast with modern trends, you know, it’s when one dies he or she stops to learn or get education.”
On the challenges faced by the profession in the area, the Chairman of NCRIB, said this present administration should help reduce the sufferings in the country by putting in place policies that will encourage greater levels of investments in the country and that the north particularly needs to be taken seriously by ensuring that they get to know the importance of insurance, benefits and need to have a policy.
“There’s apathy especially in the north, may as a result of religion, or ethnicity and this is what this new executive is diving into to finding a solution in order to promoting the profession in Kaduna and the north in general.”
The Electoral Committee which had Mr. Gbenga Ogunsanya of Shining Light Insurance Brokers as chairman, Mr.David Akuboh, Multi Trade Insurance Brokers and Alhaji Ahmed M. Babale, IBN Insurance Brokers as members of the respectively had 6 members of the previous executive returned unopposed while elections to two other positions were postponed owing to the absence of the contestants to the next meeting.
Returned unopposed in the elections are; Mr. Rahuf Akinade, Chairman, NAC, Mr. Samuel Olukotun, Vice Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Akuboh, Secretary General, and Mr. Victor Fasuyi, Financial Secretary.
Others include, Mr. Babangida Umar, Treasurer and Boniface Ugbe as Public Relations Officer, P. R. O. The elections into the offices of Assistant Secretary and that of Honourable Auditor were postponed owing to the absence of one of the contestants.
