Gov Darius Ishaku of Taraba State on Wednesday flagged off distribution of fertilizer, mini tractors, Agro chemicals and seedlings to boost large scale farming.
Ishaku noted at the occasion that fertilizer and other implement were vital requirements for modern Agriculture for enhanced productivity.
The governor explained that the successes recorded by farmers in the state in 2018 cropping season motivated the government to provide more implement for greater success in 2019.
“What we are doing today is a realization of the fact that Agriculture is a major source of income of most people in the state,” he said.
Ishaku warned farmers against the sales of the implement, saying any one found guilty would not be spared no matter how highly placed.
He approved the sales of NPK fifty Kg bag fertilizer at a subsidised rate of N4,500 per bag, Urea would be sold for N5,500 per bag and mini tractor at N450, 000 per unit.
Earlier, Dr David Kassa, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural resources said the Ministry was committed to providing inputs to farmers and also guide them appropriately on the best application for greater out put.
He thanked Gov Darius Ishaku for the desired attention given to agriculture, saying the gesture had gone a long way in changing the fortunes of farmers across the state.
On his part, Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Taraba Chapter Alhaji Bala Aji, commended Ishaku for the timely commencement of sales of farms implement to farmers.
