The Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Police Command, Austine Agbonlahor said that it has built synergy with sister security agencies on the Plateau to flush out the activities of kidnappers, armed robbery syndicates, Sara -suka, cultists including other crimes and criminality in the state and its environs.
Represented by Deputy Commissioner, Bature Umar, he said in compliance with the IGP’s directive, the Plateau State Police Command, launched its special squad of Operation Puff Adder, under direct supervision of the Commissioner of Police to smoke out criminals in their hideouts.
“The aim of the operation is to tackle crimes affecting Plateau State such as: kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, banditry and sara suka among other crimes and to also prevent influx of criminal elements to the state considering the ongoing security operations in neighboring states like; Bauchi, Kaduna, Nasarawa and Taraba,” he said.
CP Agbonlahor, appealed for the support, cooperation, understanding and collaboration of other security and law enforcement agencies in the state as well as members of the public for the continuous success of the operation, to ensure that, the state is safe and secured.
Governor Simon Lalong, assured the acting Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Adamu, of his administration’s continuous support of discharging the duties of curbing criminality in Plateau State.
The Governor said the Ag. IG’s innovation of operation Puff Adder, is highly commendable.
Governor Lalong, stated this on Friday, at the official launching of Operation Puff Adder, held at the Plateau State Police Command.
Represented by Deputy Governor, Sonny Tyoden, Lalong said, that the IG deemed it necessary to innovate the instrument of Operation Puff Adder, to cover Plateau State is commendable.
“We shall give you (Police), all the necessary cooperation to succeed,” he assured, and further tasked the men and officers of Operation Puff Adder, to discharge their job seriously, by upholding the confidence reposed on them.
According to him, the relative peace being enjoined in the state, will continue when citizens play their positive parts in the state.
Goodwill messages were presented by the General Officer Commanding 3 Div, the Commander Operation Safe Haven, as well as the media.
The STF commander, Major General A.C.C Agundo urged the people of Plateau State to imbibe spirit of bringing positive ways of peaceful coexistence by learning to embrace togetherness.
The commander expressed confidence that with the cooperation of all and sundry, people can go to sleep and farming because they are battle ready to flush out bad eggs.
“In my few years here, we have seen the magnitude of damage done to human lives and property but we call on community leaders to stop unnecessary killings,” he said.
