The May 2014 Civil Servants Forum made up of members 1,400 Zamfara State Civil Servants who were recruited on the orders of Governor Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar have decried non payment of their five years salary and entitlements by Zamfara State Government.
The Forum’s Chairman, Comrade Lukman Majidadi stated this at a press conference in Gusau on Thursday describing the non payment of their salary as against the civil service rules.
“For the past five years, most of us have had to live a life of uncertainty going by the total neglect we suffered in the hands of our employer; the Zamfara state government”, he said.
“We are in May 2019 which marked the Fifth year of this struggle which we embarked upon to ensure that justice is done to us”, he said.
He said they were recruited by the state Civil Service Commission on May , 2014 follows an executive directive to that effect by Governor Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar.
“After series of processes which included written and oral interviews and reverification after what 1,351 person were cleared out of eight thousand applicants and issued with notification letters posted to various MDAs in the state”, he said.
He called the state government to commence the payment all the arrears and entitlements of the 1400 workers as they have suffered enough maltreatment and injustice.
“We wish to request for support of all well meaning Nigerians and Zamfara state indigines in particular to help us amplify our voices to end this injustice meted to the future of our dear state”, he said.
When contacted, the state Head of Service, Alhaji Muhammad Mujtaba Isah said as far as the state government is concerned the issue of the 1400 workers is dead.
“I am aware of this, even though it happened before I become head of service, when I came I invited them together with the officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress aimed at resolving the issue”, he said.
