The Governor Nasir el-,Rufai-led Kaduna State Government has allocated 2,500 hectares of farm land for the 2019 farming season to Kaduna State Cotton Farmers Association at Mushen Roka Valley, Ruwan Sanyi in Kubau Local Government Area.
Speaking shortly after the farm site visit, the state acting chairman of the association, Alhaji Awwalu Mamuda Wappah Zaria said, it is now that government has shown how serious it was on its efforts to revive the textile industries in the state which closed down some decades ago.
He said, with the allocation of the farm land to the association, they will make sure that they utilize the farm land accordingly.
Alhaji Awwalu Mamuda Wappah Zaria added that the association has acquired hectares of farm land in Giwa and Makarfi, Ikara, Soba, Lere, Chikun and Kajuru local government areas for it’s members.
According to the Chairman, they need nothing less than 10,000 hectares as far as registered members for this coming farming season are concerned.
He appealed to the Government to allocate more farm lands to the association in order to meet up with the required farm land they plan to harvest cotton this year.
The Chairman said, they were fully prepared to meet the cotton demands of the Nigerian textiles at the end of the harvest.
