Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar has enjoined the people of the state not to cause any distraction in the current fight against bandits in the state by the security agencies.
Yari said the fight against bandits and other criminals needs the support and cooperation of all stakeholders and everybody in the state therefore people should avoid anything that can cause distraction.
He therefore, warned people to shun all acts that can lead to distraction and lead to disharmony in the society.
The governor who was speaking at the Government House, Gusau when he received the Nigerian Air Force Investigative Team on the alleged killings of the innocent civilians in air strikes by the Nigeria Air force (NAF) during their operations against bandits in the state, called on people of the state to continue to support the security operatives with credible information that will lead to flushing out bandits in the state.
Yari disclosed that though during operations in some villages in the state that had been a major hideouts of the bandits, some innocent civilians might erroneously be affected by the air strikes exercises.
“I personally visited the Chief of Air Staff in Abuja and expressed our administration’s appreciation over the successes being recorded in the fight against banditry and other criminal activities in the state”, he said.
Yari assured of his administration’s unflinching support to the security agencies to ensure that peace is restored all over the state.
Earlier, the Chairman of the team AVM Idi Lubo said they came to Zamfara State to carry out an investigative task on the alleged killings of the innocent villagers as directed by the Chief of Air Staff Sadeeque Abubakar.
AVM Lubo who assured the Governor of their continuous operations within the ambit of the law appreciated the state government for the support accorded them while performing their constitutional duties.
