Rainstorm Destroys 50 Buildings, Damages 15 Electric Poles In Ibadan

About 50 houses, shops and other structures were destroyed on Thursday evening by heavy as rainstorm in some parts of Ibadan.

Also, it was gathered that at least, 15 concrete and wooden poles were  destroyed or damaged during the heavy rain.

According to New Nigerian investigation, the areas mostly affected by the havock wrecked by the rainstorm accompanied by wind included  Alaaka community, Araromi village, Igbonna, Apete, Wajawaja, Ologuneru, Alapata, Olose, Oloman, Arijo, Awotan, Alapata, Ile-Titun, all in Ido local government area of Oyo state.

In most of the affected areas, the roof of the  houses  were either blown off, structures were destroyed or that the whole house collapsed totally.

Sources in the area said the  heavy rainstorm started at about between 6.00pm and lasted till  6.30 pm during which

Narrating his experience, one of the affected landlords at  Alaaka community, Mr. Musliudeen Ajadi Alimi, whose house, built last year totally collapsed with the roof blown off by the heavy wind that accompanied the rainstorm said himself and his wife were in the house when the building collapsed

Mr Ajadi however urged both the Oyostate and federal governments as well as National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA),  to come to his rescue and other victims of the rainstorm.,saying,  “I don’t know where to start from .The whole roof was removed. It destroyed the whole building after the roof was removed. What is left. I am appealing to the well spirited Nigerians, Oyo state government and the federal government to come to my aid”

Another victim of the rainstorm,  Mrs. Funke Emmanuel said with the sad occurrence, the only option left for her and her husband was  to be  sleeping in their shop.

“The rainstorm was heavy. I was inside the house with my children. The rainstorm came three times, it carried the whole roof the forth time it came. I thank God that it does not claim any live. I am appealing to the government of Oyo state to come to my rescue.

Speaking, one of the affected landlords at Ologuneru whose shop was also destroyed said he almost die when the electricity in the shop shocked him during the rainstorm.
