Banditry: Troops Arrest Zamfara Council Vice Chairman, 2 Informants

Troops of Operation Sharan Daji (OPSD) fighting banditry n Zamfara State have arrested the Vice Chairman,  Anka Local Government Council, Alhaji Yahuza Ibrahim Wuya and two others for their involvement in banditry activities.
A statement signed by the Acting Force Information Officer (OPSD), Major Clement Abiade said the Vice Chairman was arrested by the troop on 13th of this month based on credible intelligence report linking him to bandits in Wuya and Sunke communities in Anka local government area.
The two bandits informant namely Yusuf and Yakubu are accused of providing information and help in selling rustled cattle’s.
“Mr Yusuf was allegedly reported to seamlessly sell rustled/stolen cows and donkeys as well as accused of giving information about troops, other security agencies and vigilantes’ movement. He was also accused of aiding the release of a notorious gun runner one Sani Yaro from Gusau prison”, he said.
Abiade said Yakubu will be handed  over to relevant security agency for possible prosecution after initial investigation.
In his reaction, the Chairman Anka local government council, Alhaji Mustapha Gado Anka said if the allegations against Wuya is proven, then relevant prosecution should be melted as the vice chairman has betrayed the trust reposed on him.
It will be recalled that Anka local government area is one of the most affected by the killings of the bandits.
More than 13 people were killed in an attack bandits last February on Kawaye village of Anka local government area.
