Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai of Kaduna State, on Thursday inaugurated the Governing Board for the Kaduna State Planning and Budget Commission and the Kaduna State Residents Registration Agency.
The State Governor inaugurated the Boards at a ceremony held at the SirvKashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna.
el-Rufai, inaugurated two new agencies of government to scale up his administration’s institutional reforms, Kaduna State Planning and Budget Commission and Kaduna State Residents Registration Agency.
The state Governor, emphasised on the inauguration that as a very important agencies of government, the Budget and Planning Commission and Residents Registration Agency are essential, while he was delighted to welcome them to the inauguration of the boards.
“The objective of the commission is part of the government’s efforts to reform the public service to improve service delivery,” he said.
el-Rufai tasked the board to exhibit professionalism in providing guidance to the government in planning and budgeting which will lead to better service provision to the people of the state.
He stressed that he was delighted that the Kaduna State budget and planning commission took up with the full inauguration and planning board in November 2017 and the local government development plan in an effort to maximise the potentials into delivery of quality service.
“You would recall that we came into office with the core mandate of change in delivery and have taken critical decisions to putting people first which requires proper planning.
“Kaduna State is in a stronger position that requires proper planning and remains be professional. We have the duty to cause all our Ministry as they must remain reasonable commission,” he said.
el-Rufai appealed for their full commitments towards ensuring that their desires at state and local government levels to make the work more efficient.
Speaking on Kaduna State Residents Registration Agency, he said it is one of the key agencies of government that is created to enable them know who are the residents of Kaduna State.
“Every Nigerian and non Nigerian can live in Kaduna State under the constitution, so that we can provide social services as free service education for our girls as well as healthy service delivery from the age of five,” he explained.
According to him, the law establishing Planning and Budget Commission was passed by the State Assembly in May 2017.
“And for this to be achieved, we have to know how many people live and settled in the state this are some of the reasons we established the Kaduna State Residents Registration Agency in 2018,” he pointed out.
“el-Rufai disclosed that nearly two million residents have so far been registered in residency registration programme in the last 18 months and tasked the agency to scale up the registration to enable the state know the number of and real people living in the state.
Governor Nasir el-Rufai, who is the chairman of the board has delegated his responsibility to his deputy who will henceforth serve as the chairman.
