Police Goes After Unauthorised Tinted, Unmarked Vehicles In Ekiti



Ekiti State Police Command, has placed embargo on the use of unauthorised tinted and unmarked vehicles in the state.

The Police Commissioner, Ekiti State Command, Mr. Asuquo Amba, who lamented the increasing and indiscriminate use of such vehicles in the state, said the illegal act had been undermining security in the state.

Asuquo said vehicles found to be using illegal tinted glasses and number plate and those not marked at all by the prescribed authority , were being fondly used for criminal activities.

The commissioner,in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu ordered serious clampdown on the owners of such vehicles henceforth.

The CP said:”It has come to the notice of Ekiti State Police Command of indiscriminate use of tinted glass on vehicles which originally are not factory fitted tinted glass vehicle.

“The general public are advised to remove these artificial tinted glass in their own interest on or Before the  April 1 in their own interests.

“The Command will commence the arrest and enforce the traffic laws with regards to artificial tinted glass”.

Asuquo added that the Command has placed embargo on unauthorized use of unmarked and  covered vehicles number plates in the state.

“This unwholesome practice may be deployed by some unscrupulous persons to aid the commission of crime.

“Covering vehicle number plate amounts to a clear breach of the Road traffic Act and other relevant law of the land.

“These security measures if not taken seriously could impact negatively on State security and general safety of lives and property”.
