The Paramount Ruler of Bakassi, His Royal Majesty, Etinyin Etim Okon Edet, has called on the Federal Government to as a matter of priority and urgency, take a definite position on the resettlement of the displaced people of Bakassi.
He made the call at Ekpri Ikang when he received the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate campaign team, led by Senator John Owan-Enoh.
Speaking with anger, he said, “Bakassi people are pained, angry and endangered over the current situation they have found themselves several years after ceding their land and place of birth”.
“Mr. President must come out boldly to make a commitment on the issue of Bakassi. My people are capable of doing something that will shock the entire nation, if nothing is done, he added”.
He announced that the traditional Rulers in the state had agreed to cast their votes to President Muhammadu Buhari come February 16 while a new brand governor will emerge to give the state a new direction.
Addressing a mamonth crowd at Calabar South local government area to round off the campaign in the 18 local government, Senator Owan Enoh, promised to revisit the issue of Bakassi and the plight of the people.
Said he, “as we elect both Senator and a House of Representatives members who are from Bakassi, the issue of revisiting it will be easy. They the their people and their current problem and will be in a better position to address them”.
He thanked the people of Bakassi and Calabar South for coming out in their numbers to welcome Mr. President when he came for his campaign.
Owan Enoh appealed to them to come out on Saturday 16th of February to cast their votes to President Muhammadu Buhari, adding “we must appreciate what he has done to Cross River state within three and half years in office”.
“We owe him gratitude and appreciation. He is a father and a wonderful leader of our time, he added”.
Also speaking, the National Vice Chairman , South South, Ntufam Hillard Ettah, reminded the people of their civic responsibilities of coming out to cast their votes for APC come February 16, next week.
He said “next week is pregnant, and you know when a pregnant woman is about to deliver she needs alot care from both the doctors and nurses, so go to your polling booth to deliver”.
According to him, “it will be a show of severe ingratitude if we do not come out to vote for Mr. President to thank him for his magnanimity to Cross River”.
He advised them not to develop “fatigue” on February 16, 2019. We must come out and vote massively for the APC.
In his remarks, High Chief Edem Duke, described Calabar South as wonderful and hard working people capable of delivering any day any time.
He appealed to them to come out and cast their votes for all the candidates of All Progressives’ Congress (APC) as well as President Muhammadu Buhari.
Over 1,000 people who defected from PDP were accepted into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
