A political awareness group, Kano South Awareness Forum (KSAF) has given reasons why they are not only supporting the re-election bid of Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya (APC Kano South), but are campaigning vigorously for the actualisation of the ambition in the forthcoming general election.
The group chairman, Alhaji Idris Kachako told journalists after the national chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomohle handed over the party’s flag to Senator Gaya as the party’s candidate to run in the February 16th Senatorial election at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.
He said that Senator Gaya’s achievement as a federal lawmaker was legendary which needed the support of all from Kano South.
He explained that the senator’s constituency projects cut across entire Kano and not just Kano South alone. He said that the former Kano State governor is the only known senator that is in the red chamber for the interest of the people and not self aggrandisement.
He added that for the first time, a northern senator was appointed chairman Senate Committee on work which has propelled the building of roads for Kano South and other parts of the north. Alhaji Kachako further said that sponsoring of the bill for the creation of North-East Development Commission (NEDC) by the senator, is a legacy that will not be forgotten in a hurry.
He crowned it that Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya is the first Nigerian to be elected to the exalted position of vice-president Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The KSAF chairman also said that followers of events in the state will agree that for now Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya is the man to beat in Kano South and enjoined others contesting the poll with him to step down as it is more honourable to step down than conceding defeat after election result.
He advised contenders to check the intimidating credentials of the senator and do the needful which shall be compensatory in the future.
Alhaji Kachako called on the people of Kano South to come out in their thousands to give the people’s senator a resounding victory to replicate the result of 2015.
