No fewer than five suspected traffic robbers are now in police net in Lagos, the New Nigerian Newspaper has learnt.
Our correspondent gathered that the suspects, who were armed at the time of the arrest were apprehended in three different locations last week.
Three out the suspects identified as Mubara Afeez ‘m’ Age 25yrs; Dauda Moruf ‘m’ Age 27yrs; and Emmanuel Adeshina ‘m’ 28yrs.were arrested at Cement Bus stop axis along the Lagos – Abeokuta Express road on 6th December 2018 at about 9.00pm by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
According to report, one black toy gun and one cut to size locally made pistol were recovered from them.
Similarly, one of the robbers named Olamide Bello was said to have been nabbed by police operatives attached to Pen- Cinema Division at about 5.00pm while robbing passers-bye of their valuables on traffic along Iju- Ishaga road on 17th November 2018.
He was said to have committed the act with other members of his gang who ran in different direction when they sighted the operatives.
According to police sources luck however ran against Bello as he was apprehended by the operatives.
One cut to size locally made pistol with one life cartridge were recovered from one of him.
In the same vein, one Abiodun Oladimeji was also arrested by operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and policemen attached to Ebute- Ero Division on 16th December 2018 at about 9.45pm.
It was gathered that he was sighted along other members of his gang robbing motorists of their valuables on Apongbon bridge, Lagos Island by passersby, who immediately informed the police operatives.
Police sources informed that he was immediately searched and one Battle Axe and one Jack Knife were recovered from him.
The Commissioner of Police Lagos Command Edgal Imohimi confirmed the arrest in a release made available to journalists in Lagos.
He said all the suspects confessed belonging to different gangs of traffic robbers terrorizing motorists in different parts of Lagos.
Edgal added that all the suspects will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
