Seven suspected members of a notorious cult group alleged to have terrorised and robbed residents and traders on the pretence of engaging in rival group on Lagos Island have been apprehended by the Police.
The second in command of cult gang, identified as Lanre Afolabi aka ‘Daylight’ and six other members of the group were arrested by the operatives of F-SARS who had been monitoring the gang’s activities for almost three week.
Daylight, 28 years, learnt to be a lieutenant to the gang leader identified as ‘FALAPA’ (at large), along with other members who were between the age of 14 and 30years old have turned some parts of Lagos Island into battle ground, forcing residents and traders to flee it in drove.
It was also gathered that the notorious cultists were members of ‘Gets Ready’ gang from Okepopo area, who have been having logger head with their rival gang called ‘O Strong’ from Agarawu area of the Island for the past five years.
The notorious gang from Okepopo area were said to be having conflict with Onola boys in recent time,which led to daily attack and counter attack where both sides have suffered casually.
Residents and traders in the battle ground areas were not left in the attack as the Okepopo boys used the opportunity to burgle shops and houses, where property worth millions of Naira are cartered away.
It was however noted that since the arrest the suspects and the fleeing of Falapa and other members of the gang, peace has returned to the affected areas.
CP Imohinmi Edgal who paraded the suspects at Police headquarters disclosed that his men have not relent in the efforts to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang and the rival group.
He assured the residents and traders in the state that his men with the support of other security agents in the state will continue to make Lagos unbearable to criminals.
