The Chairman Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari on Friday disclosed that as the world is going digital, everybody irrespective of the status needs to be computer literate
Senator Buhari stated this while speaking at the commissioning of a modern ICT centre and a block of classroom in Iseyin as part of the constituency project facilitated by him as a Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District.
The Senator pointed out that this is
one of the ways through which the people can be made to be computer ” literate is to bring the facilities closer to the people. “
“The world is going digital and everybody irrespective of status needs to be computer literate and one of the way through which can help our people to be literate is to bring the facilities closer to the people. The essence is to create a platform where younger people especially the students can learn and acquire ICT knowlegde and develop skills that will enhance their education pursuit.” he said.
Senator Buhari emphasized that the ” ICT centre is one of the four modern centres facilitated to his constituency”, saying, another set of ICT centres were facilitated for 13 local government across the Senatorial district .
“Before now people from this part of the state do go to Ibadan to learnabout ICT, those writing computer based exams also have to move to a nearby city to learn but with this now people can learn and practice CBT in preparation for exams”.
APC Chieftain and Community leaders that graced the commissioning including Chief Oladimeji Wasiu, Oyo state Commissioner for Works , Alhaji Kewusola APC Senatorial chairman in Oyo north and others lauded the Senator Buhari for his genuine contribution to the senatorial district.
