Ahead of 2019 Presidential election, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on Monday stormed Owerri, Imo State capital where he was received by uncontrollable crowd of people.
Addressing the people at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state office, Senator Kwankwaso appreciating the mammoth crowd promised that the issues of restructuring which has been agitated for by the Igbo’s would be carried out without delay if given the chance in 2019.
He thanked the people for raising the issue of restructuring the country saying that the issue has upper most on his mind.
Senator Kwankwaso recalled that when he was at National conference the issue of restructuring came up and was discussed extensively .
He believes that something needs to be done most urgently about the present state of the states, local governments and the wards and urged the people to support him in his ambition
Kwankwaso said he came to Imo State to sensitize the people about his ambition for 2019.
He said that he will declaring his ambition officially on the August 29, 2018 at the Eagle Square Abuja and urged the people to attend the function.
However, receiving Senator kwankwaso the chairman of the PDP in the state, Barrister Charles Babatunde Ezekwem earlier told the visitor that the Igbo’s have been agitating for the restructuring of the country.
Also he said that the Igbo’s are clamoring for the creation of another state from the present South East Geo political zone to make them have equal states like other zones.
The chairman further complained against what he describes as ill treatment meted out on the Igbo’s by the present Government of the Federation saying that they are treated as if they are not part of Nigeria.
On his own , the secretary of the Kwankwaso state movement, Dr. B.M.C. Amadi said that Senator Kwankwaso is the man of the moment pointing out that ,that was the reason why the people came out to welcome him.
However, among the dignitaries present were the former special assistant to present state Governor, Rochas Okorocha, Lady Barrister Becky Onozie who led over 500 persons who decamped from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to join PDP.
