Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) governorship aspirant in Niger State, Umar Mohammed Nasko has described the present administration in the state as non performer just as he boasted that he could do better if given the opportunity and elected governor of the state.
Nasko carpeted the All Progressive Congress led administration of governor Abubakar Sani Bello and said no tangible achievements had been recorded in the state in the last three and half years.
Nasko, a former Chief of Staff to erstwhile governor Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, is one of the governorship aspirants under the PDP flagship in Niger state.
At the weekend, he alongside his supporters thronged the party’s secretariat to submit his letter of intent to contest the party’s primary election to pick the PDP’s candidate for the 2019 governorship contest in the state.
He promised Nigerlites, particularly the teaming youths across the state that he would greatly dwarfed and surpass what the present administration in the state had done in the last three and half years.
Nasko announced that he was only interested in governing the state for a single four year term even as he boasted that given the mandates, the state would witness unprecedented developmens in all spheres as against what the present APC led administration had so far done.
The 2019 PDP’s governorship aspirant in the state told journalists shortly after he had submitted his bid interest that he has a well articulated programme of action for the speedy development of the state and place it on economic recovery path for the good of all citizens in the state.
Nasko who is seeking for the sole ticket of his party to carry it’s flag in next governorship election in the state if he gets the mandates of the party’s delegates at the party’s primary election, is the fourth aspirant to submit his letter of bid.
There are at least three others who are expected to drop their letters of intent at the party’s secretariat in the coming days ahead of the party’s primary election.
Nasko roundly scored governor Sani Bello’s administration low saying there is nothing much to showcase by the government despite being in office for over three years.
“I will be a governor for every Nigerlite. We would take cognizance of our diverse tribes and religion while we respect every facet of the society being a miniature Nigeria because we all have something to contribute to the growth and development of Niger state” he declared.
“The APC government has done it’s best in the past three years. Though the act of governance is not an easy task, but we would ensure that we have the right people to drive Niger state to the desired level and run an all inclusive government” he assured.
Nasko recalled his days as commissioner and member of the state’d executive council as well as the Chief of Staff, Government House and said “i have travelled this way before as a member of the state executive council. I know from what we have on the ground today, that I can definitely do a better job if given the opportunity”.
He described himself as a bridge between the young and the older generation adding that “if voted, i will take advantage of the wisdom and experience of the older generation to work with and blend it with the fresh and youthful ideas of today’s generstion in repositioning the state for good.”
