Leaders of the Oyo State branch of the Ohaneze Ndigbo on Saturday cautioned the National leadership of the socio cultural group against action capable of sparking off fresh   leadership crisis among the Igbos in Oyo state.

The Oyo State Ohaneze Ndigbo leaders in a press release made available to newsmen emphasized that the National leadership of the Socio cultural group  “should be seen to be unbiased in intervening in the matter “..

According to the Oyo State Ohaneze leaders in the press release dated August 25, 2018,  jointly signed by Chief Emma Ndidi Nzeako, President of the Oyo state branch of Ohaneze; Mr. Andrew Anieriobi, Secretary of the Oyo Ohaneze; and Eze (Dr.) Alex C. Anozie, the Ezendigbo of Ibadan and Oyo State, the National leadership of the group should not be seen fuelling crisis among its members by supporting any action capable of causing trouble..

In the press release,  Oyo State Ohaneze vowed that its members will not participate in any arrangement that does not follow due process, as such arrangement “might spark off crises, and this we do not want”.

” We the above body of Ndigbo leadership in Ibadan and Oyo state, hereby make this release to inform all and sundry of our objection and refusal to participate in any election whatsoever being organised by any body or group which falls outside our constitutional guidelines, both our Ohaneze national and local constitutions respectively ” it said.

The group stated, “instead of causing more crises, we should sit down and discuss like brothers we are, apply truth and justice, each group preferring sincere solution to the lingering problem on the ground”.

” All the groups coming under one umbrella of Ohaneze Oyo State branch which was registered with the national headquarters since the year 2000, evidences are there showing just that. Matter in the Appeal Court sorted out, then, we arrange and conduct an  election, free and fair to elect new leadership for the state branch.”

Oyo state Ohaneze Ndigbo leaders added, ” Article 8 of Ohaneze constitution allows only one Ohaneze branch in states outside Igbo speaking states, while every other Igbo associations in those states should join the first to register of that branch with the national, and we are the one”.

“So, let other Igbo groups in Oyo state join us, we are all brothers, nobody is killing anybody. We are one family Ndigbo”.
